The holiday season is upon us and I think everyone is thankful for 2020 to be nearing an end. In our eagerness to usher in the New Year, let us not skip over the Christmas season but rather find plenty of reasons to celebrate — even if it is with more intimate groups. Despite how the world has evolved due to COVID-19, I still enjoy decorating my own home for the holidays, finding the perfect gifts for family and friends (especially when they are home décor gifts!), and cooking some of my seasonal favorites. Filling our home with cinnamon scents, lively music and beautiful decorations help me embrace all that Christmas promises.
The Pamela Hope Designs team has been busy wrapping up design projects and jumpstarting new jobs that will be installed in 2021. As we select furniture, art and accessories for our clients, we can’t resist finding a few treasures for ourselves. In the spirit of the holiday season, our team thought it’d be fun to share a few home décor gifts on our holiday wish lists and our thoughts behind the choices.
On Pamela’s Holiday Wish List
One of the gifts that I’d love to see under my tree is the Tartan Dye Pillow by Hermes. The pillow is dyed, then successively folded and soaked in four different dye baths. The hand-spun and hand-woven cashmere with Cocotte stitch finishing is indicative of the quality of this luxurious pillow. The “H” detail is created with a single use wooden H, carved by hand and affixed to the pillow before it is soaked in the dye baths to avoid infusing the vaporous cashmere. I love the sunny and cheerful hue of the pillow in soleil, shown here, although the pillow is also available in saphir blue as well as pourpre/kaki. The petit nature of the pillow at 16.9-inches by 16.9-inches makes it easy to make a grand statement by tucking it into nearly any room of your home. If Santa treats me to this gift, don’t be surprised to see it in plenty of our future photo shoots. The pillow retails for $1,000.
Also from Hermes, I’m hoping for the Avalon Throw Blanket in the vivid citrus/coral color. I love the timeless elegance of the Hermes brand and its craftsmanship guarantees products that last a lifetime. This throw blanket is made of 90 percent Merinos wool (thinner and softer than regular wool) and 10 percent cashmere, which provides added warmth and comfort during the few times a year it is cool in Houston. I imagine using this as a colorful accent in the living room after I’ve taken down the holiday decorations and the gray-ish weather of January surrounds us. It would provide a nice pop of color to carry into spring. The blanket measures 53 inches by 67 inches. It retails for $1,550 but limited quantities are available.
On Danna’s Holiday Wish List
Danna is dreaming not of sugarplums, but of the Shimmer Upholstered Standard Bed from Perigold, available in a queen, king and California king size. More than just beautiful, this Shimmer Upholstered Sleigh Bed adds sophistication to space. Its shapely silhouette is crafted of panels finished in an exquisite champagne shimmer finish. Metal ferrules in a whisper of gold cap the legs and add an elegant finishing touch. The natural wood grain and curved edges of the headboard add to the bed’s soft finish. If Santa can’t fit this bed in his sleigh this year, it is on sale (while supplies last) for $3,240 – $3,600 depending on size.
On Misha’s Holiday Wish List
Since we know that Santa will still make his rounds during COVID, Misha asks that he bring her this stylish Virginia Langley Touchstone Geometric Silk Brown/Gray area rug also from Perigold. The distressed blues, browns and grays with the hidden geometric pattern would make a perfect addition to her living room. Sumptuously soft to the touch, the indoor rug’s style combines with the luxurious feel of silk alongside SmartStrand’s premium, built-in lifetime stain and soil resistance to offer an expertly engineered product that never wears or washes off. It would be great for Misha and her two dogs. If Mrs. Claus decides to keep this goodie for herself, the rug is available at the following price points depending on size chosen:
- 3 feet 6 inches x 5 feet 6 inches for $245,
- 5 feet 3 inches x 7 feet 10 inches for $545,
- 8 feet x 11 feet for $1,095,
- 9 feet 6 inches x 12 feet 11 inches for $1,645, and
- a runner style rug at 2 feet 4 inches x 7 feet 10 inches for $195.
