After 15 wonderful years, Jon and I are moving out of our beloved home on Blossom Street in Houston. We just finished building our new home, showcasing my expertise in interior design and we can’t wait to share all the fun design elements we incorporated in the new space.

With summer right around the corner, it is the perfect time to consider revamping your interior, especially if you’re planning to sell or buy a home. My husband and I are preparing to move out of our stand-alone townhouse. This house features beautiful arch entryways and hand-scrapped hardwood floors. I will miss the huge, open second floor, which allows for cooking, dining and entertaining large crowds.  We were able to seat 30 people in the living room! I will also miss the third floor private master suite with the Juliette balcony that provides fresh air (and no mosquitoes!) all year long. Over the years, I have made many upgrades including carpet, ornamental iron and gas lanterns to name a few.

When preparing to sell a home, remember that first impressions count and often that is via photos. Have your realtor hire a real estate photographer to photograph your home and take a look around carefully before they start. Make sure the house is not too cluttered. Be sure all the lights are working and have the proper bulbs. People are drawn to well lit homes. Clean the house from top to bottom, including the windows. You want your home to sparkle inside and out. The number one tip for selling a home is rent a storage space. We end up with too much stuff and eliminating some of the furniture, art and accessories will not only make your home look better, it will appeal to a lot more buyers.

This house is perfect for hosting guests with a total of five bedrooms and four and a half baths. Did I mention it’s nearly 3,500 square feet? Talk about legroom! With a second floor deck, a covered patio, front garden and side yard, there are plenty of areas to enjoy the outdoors.hr3704294-72

The location is ideal, especially for design, art and fitness enthusiasts. We were minutes from numerous design workshops and many galleries and studios. You can walk, run or bike to Memorial Park in minutes or walk to bars and restaurants in five minutes or less.  With easy access to several freeways and halfway between downtown and The Galleria, the location was a huge plus.

The house has great bones and great light and is ready for the new style new homeowners will bring.

Our realtor has been great, helping us during the transformation. After all, it’s never easy to let go of the memories. Interested in taking a peek? Contact Oscar Hernandez with Keller Williams, (713) 849-0675 – work or (832) 594-3260 – cell or email oscarhernandez@kw.com for more information.
