Did you know your plumbing needs to be one of the first items you select in a new construction project if you’re building on a slab? The plumbers will need to place the sleeves for your first floor plumbing when the slab forms are constructed. Thus, we often make our first showroom appointment to select the plumbing.

I think it helps you start to define the style of your home. Shiny and modern or warm and vintage? High tech or farmhouse? There are faucets, showerheads, tubs, basins and toilets to appeal to nearly any aesthetic.

Since I had done several new construction projects in the last year, I was quite familiar with the current product lines and had already pre-selected most of my plumbing package. I am a fan of the vintage inspired Moen Weymouth line and concentrated on that for a lot of my fixtures. I selected satin nickel in high use areas where I didn’t want to have to polish the hardware, whereas I chose shiny chrome and polished nickel for special areas needing a little glitz.

I also have a favorite sink that I use in nearly every project. I think it’s just so beautiful and we ordered them in biscuit and white for throughout the house.

BP2-2I also fell in love with this toilet! It’s my favorite, but it is a bit pricey, so we selected it for the powder room and the master only. Just like for my clients, we always respect the budget!

We selected a simpler toilet for the secondary bathrooms. For our studio, however, we envisioned a bit of a Parisian atelier feeling and I had already purchased this darling pedestal sink, so I wanted a vintage style commode that would go with our chic little French sink.

I was dying for a freestanding tub and this lovely, updated classic style from Victoria and Albert really fit the bill for me. I was thrilled about the combination of the Weymouth standing hand-held shower and tub faucet.BP2-5

For the other bathrooms, I kept with the vintage vibe and selected similar faucets and tub/shower plumbing. I can’t wait to wash my hands in my new house!

The debut of my dream home is getting closer and closer. I can’t wait to show you the final product!
